January is always a busy month for the church. All the accounting and record keeping is tied up from the previous year and filed away. As I write, preparations are being made for our annual meeting at the end of the month. Now, please don’t stop reading… I know… the words “annual meeting” probably are enough to make you want to take a nap, but please read on! Every single member of Peace Lutheran is needed to attend. This year we have an especially challenging budget, and we need each of you to give your input. This is an important piece of membership in this congregation. I even have my confirmation students attend to learn about the “business” end of the church. Here is the timeline:

  • Saturday, January 1st - Draft of the new Constitution was distributed for your consideration. Vote will take place at the annual meeting.
  • Sunday, January 9th - There will be a second round of discussion with the council regarding the proposed budget and possible changes to pastoral leadership and/or yoking with another congregation. This meeting will take place in the worship space immediately following the service.
  • Sunday, January 16th - Annual Reports will be available for your review in the gathering space and emailed.
  • Sunday, January 23rd - A final Budget Question and Answer session will take place in the worship space immediately following worship to address any lingering questions.
  • Sunday, January 30th - The Annual Meeting will take place immediately after worship in the worship space.

Please make every effort to attend as many of these meetings as you can. Your presence matters in listening to God’s voice for the future of Peace Lutheran Church!

See you Sunday.
